Introducer's Quick Guide To Introductions Of People
You Don't Know
1. Walk slowly to the podium, stop and look at the speaker,
look at your audience, back at the speaker and then nod up and
down several times with a slight knowing grin. Sit down.
2. Ask the audience to think about the best speaker they have
ever heard then say, "The next speaker is a lot like
that." Use the knowing grin and sit down
3. Say: "I have several pages of wonderful things to
say about the next speaker, but I don't want to take anything
from his/her time. Here is _________________.
4. Try this: "Well, I know you didn't come to hear me.
So, without any delay, here is _______________.
5. With feeling: "Have you ever wanted to hear the world's
greatestspeaker? Today could be your chance. Here is ___________.
6. And: "What can I say?" (Pause for a four count
then sit down).
7. With lots of shaking of the head: "What words can
express the inexpressible? While I have never been at a loss
for words, today I can only say hereis ______________.
8. Smiling: "You don't know the next speaker. And, I
do not want to give anything away or try to influence your expectations.
I will only say here is ________________.
9. Leaning way over the podium: "If after the next speaker
you are not surprised, I will be. Here is _________________.
10. And finally, the facilitator's special: "You are
expecting to be introduced to the speaker, or rather for the
speaker to be introduced to you. But, I would like for you to
turn to the people around you and introduce yourselves."
Let this go on for about 30 seconds and sit down. Use the knowing
grin.
