2. Ask the audience to think about the best speaker they have ever heard then say, "The next speaker is a lot like that." Use the knowing grin and sit down

3. Say: "I have several pages of wonderful things to say about the next speaker, but I don't want to take anything from his/her time. Here is _________________.

4. Try this: "Well, I know you didn't come to hear me. So, without any delay, here is _______________.

5. With feeling: "Have you ever wanted to hear the world's greatestspeaker? Today could be your chance. Here is ___________.

6. And: "What can I say?" (Pause for a four count then sit down).

7. With lots of shaking of the head: "What words can express the inexpressible? While I have never been at a loss for words, today I can only say hereis ______________.

8. Smiling: "You don't know the next speaker. And, I do not want to give anything away or try to influence your expectations. I will only say here is ________________.

9. Leaning way over the podium: "If after the next speaker you are not surprised, I will be. Here is _________________.

10. And finally, the facilitator's special: "You are expecting to be introduced to the speaker, or rather for the speaker to be introduced to you. But, I would like for you to turn to the people around you and introduce yourselves." Let this go on for about 30 seconds and sit down. Use the knowing grin.
